Clark Land Resources is Hiring (Property Researcher/Real Estate Assistant)

Clark Land Resources is accepting applications for assistants to support various real estate research and right of way staff in the Right of Way Operations Department. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months. Hourly wage rates could be $25 to $30 per hour depending on related experience and education.

Location: Varies depending on job site. Could be hybrid or in office. Most likely not fully remote. All work will be in Southern California and the majority in the Kearny Mesa area of the City of San Diego.

The researcher/right of way assistant, under general supervision, could perform a wide variety of professional office and field duties in the research and interpretation of real property interests; potential site analysis; resolving client encroachment issues, and meeting mandated regulatory standards for utilities; and perform related work as required.

Work Performed Duties may include but are not limited to the following…

  • Research, examine, and interpret property records and title reports to determine the extent and types of encumbrances and the status of interests in properties.
  • Analyze and determine the effect of encumbrances.
  • Negotiate with parties of interest to remove liens, judgments, or other encumbrances.
  • Examine engineering plans and property maps to determine extent of property requirements for street rights-of-way and easements.
  • Investigate sites for location of clients’ facilities and act as liaison for the client with property owners.
  • Maintain records and prepare a variety of reports.

Education: Equivalent to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major work in business administration, economics, real estate, or a closely related field.

Two years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for two years of education.

Experience: Two to three years of experience in the acquisition, real estate, title, surveying, or mortgage processing and/or record-keeping of public property. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite© is required (especially in Excel), and experience using database programs. Must have successful experience meeting deadlines by using multi-tasking and organizational skills.

Highly Desired Qualifications: High standards for impeccable level of ethics. Excellent communication skills with coworkers, management, clients, and “win-win” negotiations with property owners. Bilingual is a plus.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications: Must have reliable transportation and a valid California driver’s license. Certified as a Right of Way Agent by the International Right of Way Association is a plus, as well as a real estate license.

Physical Abilities: Ability to lift 20 pounds or more. Ability to sit for long periods of time and have capability for excellent vision to be able to work on a computer and review plat maps or construction drawings. One of these available positions may require site visits so the ability to drive and physically access the site is required.
